WINTER SPORTS AT SMS

Sorry for the delay. Mr. Smith and Mr. Henderson have put a lot of thought and have had many discussions about Winter Sports/Athletics at SMS for 2021. As of right now, we are going to postpone both Badminton and our Gr. 8 Workouts for Volleyball until further notice. We are going to wait to see how our COVID-19 numbers, both around the province and in the Okanagan, do over the next several weeks. If numbers decline to what they were like in the fall around the Okanagan and Lower Mainland, them we will look at starting our Badminton Program and our Volleyball Training Program for Gr. 8 athletes.
Earlier in the year, we decided not to offer basketball as a winter sport at SMS due to the large number of athletes we usually get out for the sport, the few coaches that normally help out, and the lack of time and space we would have to properly social distance to offer a safe program for all. Moving forward, we might offer a basketball program in the spring; however, we will wait and see.
Please stay tune to news and details about sports on this Blog. We will be updated this Blog every Monday morning at 8:45 AM as we move forward. Thanks for your understanding and support.

ATHLETICS AT SMS 2020-2021

Parents and students... Please be patient. Shuswap Middle School will be providing Athletic opportunities this year for our grade 6 -8 students; however, at this time, during our "New Normal," there are a lot of steps, processes, logistics, and factors that we (those of us who volunteer our time to coach), need to navigate through. Currently, Mr. Smith and Mr. Henderson have started coaching our Gr. 8 Girls' and Boys' Volleyball. Programs will begin soon... Please be patient and allow us to organize and think things through. We have our student's best interests in mind all the time. Thank you.
