TIS THE WEEK BEFORE WINTER BREAK AND THE SMS GYM WILL BE BUSY!

 Gr. 8 Girls’ Basketball Team Games last week and over the weekend: Our Gr. 8 Girls lost to VSS from Vernon last Thursday night 27 - 47. Even though our girls lost, they played well. We will work on handling the press over the break and in the New Year. The Girls also played at the Valley View Tournament in Kamloops this past Saturday and won both of their games. SMS defeated SKam in their first game and then defeated the host school Valley View in their second game. 

Gr. 8 Boys’ Basketball Team also played in the Valley View Tournament over the weekend and although the boys lost all three of their games, the Team improved throughout the tournament and learned a lot. Our Gr. 8 Boys’ Team competes in the Westsyde Gr. 8 Boys’ Tournament on Dec 16th and 17th to finish the 2022 Calendar year; so, good luck boys!

SMS Winter Volleyball Club Beginning in the New Year… We will be offering a Volleyball Club to our SMS Gr. 6-7-8 Girls and Boys in 2023. To start, we will be holding Training Sessions on Friday Mornings, from 7AM to 8:10AM in January. Our first Training Session will begin on January 6, 2023. Our Club is for any students who want to better and improve their skills and level of play in volleyball. We expect that if a student joins our Club, they show up every Training Session and they follow and adhere to our Shuswap Athletic Core Values and Standards. Please Note: Participants will be expected to Journal … so… bring a journal to write in and something to write with. We will run the program every Friday in January and add Tuesday Mornings in the middle of February. Our Club Program will run until the end of May. If interested, please show up on January 6, 2023, for our first Training Session to Register.

SMS ATHLETICS - PRACTICES - GAMES - PROGRAMS - DECEMBER 5TH TO DECEMBER 9TH

***Gr. 8 Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball Teams are well under way. We are headed into our third week of practices and games begin this week. Please check Games, Days, and Times below. 

***Gr. 8 Girls’ Basketball Team Parent Meeting… Monday, December 5th, at 6 PM, in the Gym… This is an important meeting, so please attend. 

***Gr. 7/8 Boys’ In-House Basketball Program Practices begin Tomorrow - Monday, December 5th, at 7AM to 8:10AM… Gym doors open at 6:50AM… Practices are Monday mornings 7AM to 8:10AM and Wednesdays after school, from 2:40 to 4:15 (Practices) Please Note: We will go until 4:30 when games start. Boys in this program will also play 3 on 3 games at lunch time (Starting at Eating Time), on Mondays. 

***Gr. 7/8 Girls’ In-House Basketball Program Practices begin Tuesday, December 6th, at 2:45 to 4:15… Practices are Tuesdays from 2:45 to 4:15 and Thursday mornings, from 7AM to 8:10AM. Girls in this Program will also play 3on3 games at lunch time (Starting at Eating Time), on Tuesdays. Please Note: No Practices on the Second Tuesday of each month due to Staff Meetings. 

***Gr. 8 Girls’ Home Game … Thursday, at 5:00 PM, against VSS (Vernon Secondary). Fans are encouraged to come and watch; especially, our younger grade 6 and 7 athletes. Cheer loud. Cheer proud. Be respectful. 

***Gr. 8 Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball Teams at Vikes/Titans Tournament, in Kamloops this weekend. All Games are at Valley View Secondary. Boys play on Friday, at 6:30 PM vs Valley View, and Saturday, at 10:30 vs Westsyde and 1:30 vs SKam. The Girls play on Saturday, at 9:00 AM vs SKam and at l:30 PM vs Valley View. GO SHUSWAP!!!
