SALMON ARM SYNERGY SPRING/SUMMER PROGRAM 2022

 Welcome back everyone. We are very excited to begin our new Off-Season Training Program for our local basketball players. Reminder, practices will begin this week for both girls and boys in grades 5 - 10, and girls in grade 11. Our U17 Boys Program will begin after the break; however, we are not sure what days and when it will start… please stay tune and check back with us.

Synergy is a basketball training program for the highly motivated athlete who wants to work hard, commit  and dedicate themselves to improve their skills as a basketball player and the individual who wants to work towards their full potential as an athlete and human being. 

Synergy = The Whole is Greater than its individual parts… In order to help our Members grow, develop, and get better as athletes, coaches, basketball players, and people, Synergy focuses on three main aspects that all organizations require in order to become successful - Behaviour, Culture, and Leadership… behaviour influences culture… culture creates leaders… leaders produce results. What we think about - How we feel about ourselves and others - How we interact with others -  affects our behaviours and it is our behaviours that create culture, and within a culture, leaders are born, and with great leadership progress can be made … Good or Bad… Positive or Negative … all organizations have these three principles within their structure. Salmon Arm Synergy Basketball believes that these foundational principles need to be discussed, nurtured, coached/taught, and sought after to their highest levels in order for the individuals involved have a chance to reach their greatest potential. 

Through one Training Session and one Spring League Session per week, Synergy Basketball is committed to challenging our athletes physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. Our focus, when together in the gym, will be to help develop our athlete’s quickness … - physical quickness, mental quickness, and foot quickness. Athletes will learn what it means to work hard, be committed, be dedicated, be challenged, and be tenacious. Our athletes will also learn what it means to work with, support, and understand others. Our athletes will also learn failure is a part of success and that without repeated failure, one will have a difficult time reaching their full potential. 

What we do… what we believe in… what we expect of our Members… is not easy. It takes a lot of sacrifice, commitment, drive, and desire. Not only will our athletes be expected to be coached two days per week, each member is also expected to train/workout on their own, or with other teammates, at least 2 to 4 other days per week. Athletes will be provided with and taught individual workout/programs to follow throughout the week (30 to 45 minutes each day). Our athletes are also encouraged to participate in other activities and/or sports, which promotes physical literacy and athleticism, and reduces boredom and burnout. 

Our first two practice sessions beginning the week of April 4 - April 8, will focus on establishing training routines and shooting fundamentals/techniques using the Better Basketball Shooting Program. Athletes will also be given a Synergy Binder to bring to all gym sessions and use throughout the off-season for their workouts and player development. Athletes will also be provided with a Journal, which will be written in every practice and on game days, and expected to be used on a daily basis outside of scheduled Synergy times.

SPRING BREAK

 Happy Spring Break Everyone… Please note: To Basketball Players… Gr. 8 Boys and those Gr. 7 boys and girls who can compete with the grade 8 boys, are invited to attend open gym tomorrow (Monday, March 21, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM). The kids will play while I collect club basketball forms and registration. Come out and get your game on to kick off the break!
