SPRING BREAK IS OVER AND TEACHERS ARE BACK AT WORK...

First of all, I want to send warm wishes to everyone during this difficult and unprecedented time in our lives. I hope everyone is healthy and practicing social distancing, and I hope everyone is practicing daily healthy habits like washing hands and coughing or sneezing into one's arm or sleeve as we navigate through the COVID 19 Pandemic.
Yesterday, was our first day back as teachers, at SMS, and I will say that it is strange not having our students with us. We miss you and we are thinking about you all the time. Know that your teachers are working together to organize and plan how we can help you while you are at home. As it has been said many times, be patient, don't fret, and know that we are working diligently to come up with a plan that will help you with your learning while away from our classrooms and Shuswap's learning environment.
From a PE and athletic perspective, I am organizing and creating a plan that I am hoping will help students stay active daily and provide opportunities for students to practice physical literacy. I am also organizing and planning daily activities that will help our athletes from SMS to hone their skills and develop their physical literacy in the sports they participate in.
So, please stay tune. Check in next week on this Blog, as it will be here that all the information and activities pertaining to PE and athletics will be posted. But more importantly, relax, be patient, and enjoy the time you have at home right now.
If they haven't already done so, your Core Teachers will be contacting you and your parents this week. Once our Core Teachers, throughout the school, make that contact with their students, I will begin to reach out to our students next week and present some activities to get everyone started. I am approaching this time as an opportunity to learn and grow together. Like everyone else, I've never done this type of teaching before; however, I am eager to learn and excited to get started.
Please be safe and stay healthy. Enjoy your time at home. Know that you are missed and that all of us here at SMS miss you and can't wait to personally connect with you again; however, for now, we all have to do our job, and that job is an extremely important one ... keeping everyone healthy and safe.
Miss you... Thinking about you all... Mr. Smith
